This weekend’s Featured Game of the Week in the Girls U20 division saw the Natick Chill host the Walpole Hurricanes at the William Chase Arena in Natick. The Hurricanes wasted no time in this one and got their first goal of the game after just one minute when a shot from the point found it’s way past the Chill goalie. The Hurricanes kept up the pressure and got some more scoring chances but the Natick goalie settled in and stopped them. The Hurricanes hit the post late but couldn’t score before the end of the period.
The Hurricanes came out aggressive for the second period but that intensity was matched by the Chill who looked to regain the tie. The Chill began to pick up the offense, getting a two on one chance that was broken up by the Hurricanes. The Walpole goalie faced a lot more shots this period and had to work to keep the Chill off the board. With six minutes left the Hurricanes committed a tripping penalty but the Chill couldn’t capitalize with the extra attacker. With one minute to go the Chill got the tying goal that they were looking for, burying a rebound and bringing a tie game to the third period.
The Hurricanes looked to regain their lead early, getting a 2 on 1 that was turned aside by the Chill goalie. Both teams had some great chances to break the tie but the goalies were locked in and kept the puck out of their nets. With under a minute left to play the Hurricanes broke the tie and jumped ahead with a pass out front and one timer. The Chill pushed hard in the dying seconds of the game but couldn’t sneak another one past the Hurricanes goalie. Great game!

The Featured Game of the Week for the Girls U15 division took place at the William Chase Arena in Natick where the North Shore Stingrays took on the the Natick Chill. Both teams came out hard but were very evenly matched for this game. Both teams got some early scoring chances but the goalies came ready to play as well. About halfway through the period the Stingrays got on the board when a shot from the point snuck through traffic in front of the net and beat the Chill goalie. The rest of the period went back and forth again but the Chill couldn’t erase the Stingrays’ lead before the end of the period.
The Chill came out in the second period with a heavy push to tie the game up. With ten minutes to go the Stingrays committed a checking penalty that looked to be the Chill’s chance to tie it up. However the Chill goalie was tested on the powerplay, making a great save on a Stingrays breakaway. The Chill weren’t able to get the goal they were looking for and went back to work even strength. The Stingrays added some pressure of their own towards the end of the period but the Chill goalie kept this a one goal game going into the third.
Quickly into the third period the Chill took a tripping penalty that gave the Stingrays a chance to extend the lead, but the Chill goalie took care of any threat. Both teams stepped up on defense and really made any offensive chances hard to come by. With five minutes left to play, the Stingrays jumped on a loose rebound and were finally able to cushion their lead. The Chill made a late push to get on the board but couldn’t sustain enough pressure to score. With the Chill net empty, the Stingrays took a shot from their own blue like that went in and ended the game. Great game by both teams!

This week’s Featured Game of the Week in the U14 division took us to the William Chase Arena in Natick for a game between the Natick Chill and the Southeastern Grizzlies. The Chill got going early by scoring a goal less than two minutes into the game with a one-timer from the front of the net. The Chill used this goal to control the pace for the next few minutes as they continued to put pressure on the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies got a couple of powerplay opportunities that generated some scoring chances but the Chill goalie preserved their lead. Despite their pressure, the Chill were shutout for the remainder of the period by the Grizzlies goalie.
The Chill got another hot start in this period as they doubled their lead just thirteen seconds into the period with a shot from the slot. Immediately after, the Grizzlies committed an elbowing penalty but were able to kill off the penalty with no change to the score. Shortly after the penalty, the Chill buried another goal, this time on a back door pass and tap in, to extend the lead. Two minutes later they would strike again by jumping on a loose rebound in front of the Grizzlies net. The Chill added another four goals in this period to take a big lead into the third period.
The Grizzlies came out with a sense of urgency in the third period as they looked to get on the board and try to chip away at the Chill’s lead. The Chill played some lockdown defense and kept the Grizzlies offense at bay pretty well. The Chill added another two goals in the period to extend their lead to ten. Despite the Grizzlies best efforts, they couldn’t sneak one past the Chill goalie.

The Featured Game of the Week for the 14U division brought us to Rockland Arena where the Rockland Renegades Thurston hosted the Natick Chill. The Renegades started strong and applied pressure to the Chill early on but the goalie came to play and shut them down. The play went back and forth for much of the period with neither team able to gain control. With four minutes left the Chill broke open the scoring with a shot from the point. Shortly after the Renegades got a penalty that gave the Chill some chances, but no goals. With under a minute left the Renegades took an interference penalty. With just two seconds left the Chill scored on the powerplay to take a two goal lead into the second.
The Renegades looked to chip away at the Chill lead early, putting on a lot of pressure like they did in the first period. The Chill goalie stood on his head to preserve their lead. Halfway through the period the Chill scored again, using a 2 on 0 to get a good look from the slot that beat the Renegades goalie. The Renegades got themselves on the board less than a minute later with a shot from the point to open up their scoring. Two minutes later the Renegades struck again from in close to cut the deficit to one goal. The Renegades pushed to even things up before the end of the period, hitting the post in the dying seconds, but couldn’t put the puck in the net.
The Chill came out looking to change the momentum and add to their lead. But the Renegades had other plans, scoring three minutes into the period on a rebound to tie the game. Just a minute later the Renegades took the lead with a breakaway goal. A Renegades roughing penalty put the Chill on the powerplay but they couldn’t capitalize to tie the game up. Halfway through the period the Renegades extended their lead with a shot off the post and in. The Chill fought all the way to the end but couldn’t add on to their total. The Renegades found the back of the net one more time late to take home the win.

The Varsity division’s Featured Game of the Week took place at the Jim Roche Community Ice Arena in West Roxbury where the North Shore Stingrays took on the Boston Brahmas. The Stingrays came out quick in this one and scored less than three minutes into the game when a Stingrays forward got a breakaway and scored on their own rebound for the early lead. The Brahmas used that goal to get themselves going as they started working hard to get back to even. The Stingrays goalie faced a lot of shots in this period but made some big saves to keep his team ahead. Late in the period the Brahmas found their way past the Stingrays goalie to bring a tie game into the second period.
The Brahmas kept their momentum going into the second period and scored another goal early to take their first lead of the game. With about ten minutes to go the Brahmas got on the board again, this time burying a rebound opportunity to extend their lead. The Stingrays continued to look for scoring chances but couldn’t find their way past the Brahmas goalie. The Brahmas tacked on two more goals in this period and took a three goal lead into the final frame.
The Brahmas looked to keep the pressure on the Stingrays and secure their win. The Stingrays fought back and pushed for offense of their own to get back in the game. With nine minutes left the Brahmas tipped a shot from the point past the Stingrays goalie to add to their lead. From there the Brahmas kept control of the game and kept applying pressure to the Stingrays. The Stingrays had some chances to score but couldn’t find the back of the net. The Brahmas added two more goals late in the period to cement the win.

With six minutes to go the Brahmas took a too many players penalty but killed off the penalty. The Chill took a late penalty but were able to escape without any damage to take us to the second period.
The Brahmas came out fast once again, getting a 2 on 1 in the opening minutes that was saved by the Natick goalie. With eleven minutes left the Chill got on the board with a wraparound goal to cut the Brahmas lead to two goals. The Brahmas didn’t waste any time getting that goal back, scoring shortly after to regain their lead. One minute later the Brahmas tacked on another one. They would add two more goals in the period to take a big lead into the third.
The Brahmas took an early penalty to start the third, giving the Chill a chance to start chipping away, but they killed off the threat. The Brahmas added another two goals in this period and really had their offense clicking. The Chill kept working hard despite the Brahmas pressure and had some good chances to score, but the Brahmas goalie took care of business to secure the win.

Shortly into the powerplay, the Hurricanes committed a slashing penalty and went down 5 on 3. Despite a lot of pressure, the Hurricanes managed to kill off both penalties. With three minutes to go the Hurricanes took another checking penalty and surrendered the first goal of the game, after a Brahmas shot from the point was tipped in past the Walpole goalie. With just under a minute to go the Brahmas struck again, this time on a pass out front and one-timer, to take a two goal lead into the second period.
Boston came out for the second period looking to extend their lead while the Hurricanes looked to get their offense going. Five minutes into the period the Brahmas got another goal, deking out the goalie to extend the lead to three. The Brahmas scored another one quickly and doubled their lead halfway through the second. The Hurricanes goalie settled in after this and made some huge saves to keep the Hurricanes alive. Both teams got their chances but there was no more scoring in this period.
Just over three minutes into the third the Brahmas found the back of the net again, burying a rebound after a shot from the point to go up by five. The Hurricanes never gave up and continued to push to get on the board. However, with nine minutes to go the Brahmas scored again on a shot from the circle. The Brahmas would score two more goals in this period to seal the win.

The Featured Game of the Week from the Girls U20 division took place at the William Chase Arena in Natick where the Natick Chill played host to the North Shore Stingrays. The Stingrays started out fast looking to put pressure on the Chill early. Three minutes into the game the Stingrays got on the board after a shot from the top of the circle found its way past the Chill goalie. Four minutes later the Stingrays struck again, beating the Chill goalie five-hole in close to extend their lead. Halfway through the period the Stingrays took a hooking penalty but ended up scoring a shorthanded goal on the penalty kill when a deflected shot from the circle found its way to the back of the net. With four minutes to go the Stingrays scored once again, this time on a shot from the circle top corner. The Chill pushed back late, getting a two on one, but the Stingrays goalie preserved their lead going into the second.
The Stingrays took an early boarding penalty in the second and gave the Chill the opportunity to chip away at their lead, but the Stingrays did a good job killing off the penalty. The Chill started to get their offense going and got some good scoring chances. The Stingrays kept up their attack from the first period also, hitting the crossbar halfway through the period. The Chill took a hooking penalty but killed it off despite some good chances for the Stingrays. The Chill continued to push for offense until the very end of the period but the Stingrays found the back of the net with one second left, scoring an empty net goal to send us to the third.
The Chill continued to look for offense and scoring chances throughout the third period and never gave up. Their goalie stood tall and made some great saves to give the Chill a chance to fight back and get back in the game. The Stingrays played solid defense and got some clutch saves from their goalie to preserve their lead and the shutout.

This week’s Girls U15 Featured Game of the Week saw the Boston Brahmas travel to the William Chase Arena in Natick to take on the Natick Chill. Both teams came out looking to strike early. Both teams got early chances but the Chill would capitalize first. They went into the Brahmas zone on a two on one, took a shot from the circle that was stopped by the Brahmas goalie, and buried the loose rebound to take the first lead of the game. The rest of this period became a goalie battle with neither team finding the back of the net despite some really good scoring chances.
The Brahmas came out strong in the second period looking to even the score quickly. The Chill goalie stood on her head though and preserved their lead. With under three minutes to go, the Chill took a roughing penalty that put the Brahmas on the powerplay. The Brahmas finally got on the board on the powerplay, beating the Chill goalie five-hole from in close. Less than a minute later the Brahmas would strike again, passing the puck out front and burying the shot under the crossbar to take the lead. The Chill pushed to tie things up before the end of the period but couldn’t get one past the Brahmas goalie before the end of the frame.
The Chill came out fast in the third looking for the tie. The Brahmas quickly went on the penalty kill after a roughing penalty, but the Chill couldn't capitalize on the powerplay. The Chill kept pushing for offense, getting a couple of breakaways and two on ones but the Brahmas goalie shut them down. With three minutes to go the Brahmas jumped on a loose rebound to cushion their lead late. The Chill kept working until the buzzer but couldn’t find the back of the net in time. Great game!

After some good pressure the Sabercats capitalized on their powerplay, scoring with a nice shot from the circle to take the lead. Just two minutes later a Sabercats shot from the slot beat the Raiders goalie and extended their lead. The Raiders took another roughing penalty but killed off the penalty to end the period.
The Raiders came out flying in the second looking to chip away at the Sabercats lead, even hitting the crossbar on a breakaway. The Sabercats matched that intensity and got a breakaway of their own, but the Raiders goalie came up big. With six minutes to go the Sabercats added a third goal to their lead, scoring on a shot from the circle on a breakaway. The Sabercats continued to push for more goals, getting another breakaway and two on one saved by the Raiders goalie. The Sabercats added another powerplay goal late in the period to take a four goal lead into the final frame.
Just thirteen seconds into the third period the Raiders finally got on the boars with a backhand from a bad angle. Continuing to pour on the pressure, the Raiders started getting closer and closer to catching up to the Sabercats. With thirteen minutes to go, the Raiders struck again after a nice pass out front was tapped in past the Sabercats goalie. Four minutes later the Raiders pulled within one after burying a rebound. Despite their push at the end of the period, the Raiders could not pull off the comeback and tie the game up. Great game by both teams!

This week’s Featured Game of the Week in the Girls U15 division came from the Cronin Rink in Revere where the North Shore Stingrays hosted the Boston Brahmas in a 2022 Gold Cup Championship rematch. Both teams came out looking to set the tempo early in the first period. Both goalies came to play as well and made for a very entertaining period. With eight minutes to go in the period, the Brahmas got on the board first by winning the offensive zone faceoff and beating the Stingrays goalie with a backhand that went top shelf. The Stingrays fought back looking for the tie but ended up taking a slashing penalty that they had to kill off. With a minute to go, the Stingrays evened things up with a shot from the point that beat the Brahmas goalie. A late Brahmas tripping penalty set the Stingrays up with a powerplay to start the second period.
The Brahmas spent the first part of the period killing off their tripping penalty which they did successfully. Constant pressure from the Stingrays resulted in them taking the lead in the first few minutes of the period when a beautiful shot from the circle found the top corner of the net. Back and forth hockey ensued with the Stingrays looking to expand their lead and the Brahmas fighting desperately to get the game back to even. In the last minute of the period, the Stingrays pushed their lead to two goals by beating the Brahmas goalie five hole with a shot from the top of the crease.
Both teams came out flying to start the third period but it took a while for anyone to find the back of the net. With just under nine minutes left the Stingrays committed an interference penalty. On the ensuing powerplay, the Brahmas brought the game to within one goal after deflecting the puck past the Stingrays goalie. Just two minutes later the Brahmas struck again, this time finding the back of the net on a shot from the slot through traffic. Less than a minute later the Brahmas regained the lead with a back door tap in. With five minutes to go the Stingrays picked up the tempo and tried to get the game tied once again. The Brahmas defense and goalie locked in and kept the Stingrays out of the net to preserve the win.

The Featured Game of the Week in the Varsity division brought us to the Jim Roche Community Ice Arena in West Roxbury for a matchup between the Boston Brahmas and the South Middlesex Coyotes. Both teams came out with speed and looked to test the goalies early. Both goalies made some big saves to start the period, giving their teams a chance to get the first lead of the game. With ten minutes to go the Brahmas got themselves on the board with a shot from the slot that snuck inside the far post. The Coyotes fought back to try to get the game tied up again quickly but couldn’t get anything past the Brahmas goalie. A late Coyotes penalty gave the Brahmas a chance to widen their lead but the Coyotes killed off the threat to send us to the second period.
Less than two minutes into the period and the game was evened up once again when the Coyotes jumped on a loose rebound that beat the Brahmas goalie. The Coyotes used this momentum to step up their game and shortly after got a 2 on 1 that was saved by the Brahmas. The Brahmas answered with a 2 on 1 of their own where a shot from the slot found its way behind the Coyotes goalie. The Brahmas tacked on another one shortly after when a shot through traffic hit the back of the net. The Coyotes wouldn’t give up though, as they scored a goal late from a shot in close to the Brahmas net.
Within the first minute of the third period, the Coyotes tied things up once again, gaining a breakaway and deking the Brahmas goalie. Both teams battled to be the one to break the tie but both goalies settled in and kept the game tied. The Brahmas had to kill off a tripping penalty halfway through the period that looked to be the Coyotes best chance for the lead. Late in the period a scramble in front of the Coyotes net led to a Brahmas goal that broke our tie. The Coyotes battled hard and pulled the goalie in favor of an extra attacker but they couldn’t put enough pressure on to tie the game up. Great game!

This week’s Featured Game of the Week for the 12U division saw the Boston Brahmas White play host to the Walpole Hurricanes at the Jim Roche Community Ice Arena in West Roxbury. Both teams got started quickly and had to rely on their goalies to keep the game close at each end. Back and forth play occupied much of this period with neither team getting a real stretch of time on the attack. With four minutes to go the Brahmas committed an elbowing penalty that put the Hurricanes on their first power play. The Brahmas got a good break shorthanded that led to a 2 on 1, followed by a rebound goal to give them the lead. The Hurricanes committed their own hooking penalty late in the period but the penalty was killed off.
The Brahmas came out with pressure early and looked to ride the momentum they gained towards the end of the first period. The Brahmas had a pretty good chance to expand their lead with a 5 on 3 powerplay but the Hurricanes killed both penalties off. The Hurricanes got their tying goal with nine minutes remaining on a shot from the slot. A few minutes later, the Brahmas answered back with their own shot from the slot to regain their lead. The Hurricanes went back to work looking to tie the game once again. With two minutes left they beat the Brahmas goalie on a shot from the circle and tied the game. With thirty seconds left the Hurricanes found themselves on a breakaway and beat the Brahmas goalie to take a one goal lead into the final period.
Two quick Hurricanes penalties put the Brahmas on a two man advantage but the Hurricanes once again killed off both infractions. A few minutes into the period the Brahmas got the game back to even on a beautiful back-door pass and tap in. Both teams battled hard to get the go-ahead goal before the end of the period but neither team could find the back of the net. Both teams traded late breakaways but both goalies were up to the task and sent us to a shootout.
The Hurricanes shot first in the shootout and beat the Brahmas goalie on a nice shot to kick things off. The Brahmas answered with a deke and evened things up. The next Hurricanes shooter went for a deke but was turned aside by the Brahmas goalie. The ensuing Brahmas shooter also deked out the Hurricanes goalie and took the lead in the shootout. The Hurricanes needed a goal to extend the shootout but missed on the deke, giving the Brahmas White the win. Great game by both teams!

This week’s Featured Game of the Week in the Varsity division brought us to the Raynham Iceplex for a matchup between the Raynham Raiders and the North Shore Stingrays. The Raiders came out with their feet moving and were rewarded for it with an early goal and an early lead. The Raiders continued to pour on the pressure but the Stingrays handled it well and developed some chances of their own. With under four minutes to go the Stingrays got a powerplay opportunity to turn things around. However, after a turnover near the net, the Raiders shot one off the post and in for a short-handed goal. With less than a minute to go, the Stingrays jumped on a loose rebound and cut the Raiders lead to one goal heading into the middle frame.
The Raiders came out firing once again and scored from the slot less than a minute into the period. Raynham extended their lead to three goals less than a minute later when a shot from the faceoff dot beat the Stingrays goalie five-hole. The Stingrays were quick to answer back and buried a rebound chance soon after. After killing off a high-sticking penalty, the Stingrays got a 2 on 0 that led to a great forehand-backhand deke to pull within one goal. The Stingrays fought all the way back to a tie before the end of the period, scoring late on a great shot on a breakaway.
With the score tied both teams came out looking to establish control of this game. The Raiders had a little more in the tank and generated an early 2 on 1 chance that was saved by the Stingrays goalie. Just two minutes into the period the Raiders found the back of the net again on a back-door tap in. Just thirty seconds later they extended their lead even more with a wrist shot from the point. The Raiders would add another three goals in this period to put the game out of reach. The Stingrays fought hard but couldn’t get back in this one.

The Featured Game of the Week in the Girls U20 division showcased the Raynham Raiders and Boston Brahmas as they faced off at the Aleixo Arena in Taunton. The Brahmas came out the gate fast but the Raiders goalie was there to make big saves. The Raiders found their offense in the middle of the period, gaining a 2 on 1 that was broken up by the Brahmas. Both teams traded scoring chances back and forth but this period was all about the goalies who kept it scoreless. The Raiders got a powerplay chance late that was killed off by the Brahmas. The Brahmas had a great scoring chance in the last ten seconds but couldn’t get the puck over the line in time.
The Raiders came out for the second period looking to jump ahead while the Brahmas came out looking to put more pressure on the Raiders. Halfway through the period the Brahmas got a powerplay opportunity but the Raiders killed off the tripping penalty. With four minutes to go, the Raiders broke through and got on the board on a breakaway. Less than a minute later they extended their lead on a beautiful shot from the slot to take a 2-0 lead into the third period.
The Brahmas came out with a sense of urgency and were looking to cut down the Raiders lead to one early on. The Raiders goalie stayed right with them and didn’t give the Brahmas offense much room to work with. The Raiders continued with pressure of their own looking to put this game out of reach. The Brahmas finally broke through with two minutes to go after a 2 on 1 opportunity led to a rebound goal. The Brahmas made a push in the last couple of minutes to tie the game late, but the Raiders goalie carried them to victory.

The Featured Game of the Week for the Girls U15 division took us to Aleixo Arena in Taunton where the Southeastern Grizzlies played host to the Walpole Hurricanes. The Hurricanes came out firing and took the first lead of the game on a hard shot from the faceoff dot less than three minutes in. The Grizzlies stepped up and started looking for offense of their own. A Hurricanes checking penalty gave the Grizzlies some good chances, but no goals. The Hurricanes came back with a goal of their own, burying a rebound from a weird angle to take a two goal lead. A late Grizzlies interference penalty was killed off to keep the score as it was heading into period number two.
Both teams came out hungry in this period, but the Hurricanes came out a little too hungry and took an early crosschecking penalty. The ensuing powerplay saw the Grizzlies get on the board with a shot from the faceoff circle. The Grizzlies goalie made some big saves as the Hurricanes made a push to extend their lead again. The Hurricanes had a phenomenal chance to score after a couple of Hurricanes penalties gave them a five on three, but the Hurricanes did a good job to kill of both penalties. With one minute to go in the period the Grizzlies deflected a shot from the point past the Hurricanes goalie to set us up with an entertaining third period.
Both teams came out in this period with a sense of urgency. The Grizzlies looked to carry the momentum they gained at the end of the period into a tie game while the Hurricanes looked to distance themselves again. Halfway through the period the Hurricanes finally snuck one past the Grizzlies goalie to cushion their lead. The Grizzlies fought back but couldn’t beat the Hurricanes goalie. A late Hurricanes penalty gave the Grizzlies a chance, but the penalty was killed off to end the game.

This weekend’s Featured Game of the Week in the 14U division took place at Aleixo Arena in Taunton where the Raynham Raiders hosted the North Shore Stingrays. Both teams came out looking to establish control early on, but the Raiders got on the board first. Less than a minute in a Raiders player skated through the Stingrays defense and made a nice forehand to backhand move to beat the goalie. Just thirty seconds later the Stingrays answered back on a quick turnaround shot from the slot to even the game at one. The Raiders didn’t leave this game tied for long as they took another lead shortly after beating the goalie in close. A Raiders roughing penalty gave the Stingrays a chance to tie the game again, but the penalty was killed off. With six minutes to go the Raiders extended their lead to two goals on a deflected shot from the point. A late Stingrays penalty gave the Raiders a chance to extend their lead even further, but the Stingrays goalie kept this one close.
Early on in the second the Stingrays got two penalties, almost back to back, putting the Raiders on a five on three powerplay. Towards the end of the powerplay the Raiders found the back of the net again on another tipped shot from the point. After a Raiders hooking penalty, the Stingrays went on the attack but surrendered a shorthanded goal as they were building momentum. The Raiders kept the pressure on for the remainder of the period with some pushback and chances from the Stingrays. With one minute to go the Stingrays answered again, burying a loose rebound to cut down the Raiders lead.
The third period began with the Raiders on the powerplay after a Stingrays roughing penalty in the last minute of the second. The Raiders made the most of this powerplay and got a rebound goal to push their lead to four goals. Alternating penalties on both sides made this period interesting, with both teams getting scoring chances shut down by the opposing goalies. With under three minutes to go the Stingrays scored another rebound goal to give themselves hope. Despite their late push, the Stingrays couldn’t catch up to the Raiders who took home the win.
