Coyotes find scoring touch in second.

BURLINGTON – The Varsity South Middlesex Coyotes (3-1-0) rebounded nicely from their first loss of the season this past Sunday. After falling to the Central Mass Cobras 3-1 seven days prior, they took it to the North Shore Stingrays (0-3-0) with a 6-1 at the Burlington Ice Palace.

The Coyotes came out strong, carrying play for much of the first. Despite their control, however, they were unable to breakaway from the Stingrays as the two sides played to a 1-1 draw through the opening 15 minutes. South Middlesex took a 1-0 lead on a Cody Goulding backhand at 11:07. North Shore evened it just before the game’s first intermission, Jake Reilly sending home a one-timer off some great patience shown by Aidan Seitz on the set-up feed at 12:56.

It was in the second the Coyotes found their groove, striking three more times to put themselves comfortably ahead of their guests. Cam Antonellis put away a low angle chip shot at 2:00, Connor Desharnais riffled a shot from just inside the tops of the circles at 5:41 and Alex Sawhney made it 4-1 at 6:50, burying it short side after keeping the puck on a 2-on-1 when it seemed everyone in the building was expecting the Coyotes defender to make the pass.

Pressure from the Coyotes kept up and they found the sharpshooting to go with it as the game progressed. Already with a comfortable margin, South Middlesex added to it in the third, getting the second of a game-high two goals from Antonellis and the game’s final tally from Jason Dion at 9:36, bringing the score to its 6-1 final.

Seven Coyotes got their name in the scoring column by game’s end, three of whom were credited with multiple points. Two goals for Antonellis, and a goal and an assist each for Desharnais and Dion.

Brendan Hannabury and Nick Pazzia split the goaltending duties in net for the Coyotes.
