The United States Hockey League (USHL), regarded as the country’s top junior hockey league, held their Phase I Futures Draft on Monday, May 2, at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI. The rights of one former Future Star were selected in the fourth round, when Wyatt Schlaht, currently with St. Sebastian’s School, was chosen with the 11th pick of the round by the Lincoln Stars.

Schlaht spent the 2013 and 2014 NEFS seasons playing for the Bantam North Shore Stingrays. The 5’10 forward, who has played with the Boston Jr. Eagles along with the Arrows, ended his NEFS career recording the 2014 Bantam Gold Cup Championship-winning goal.

The USHL Draft is held in two phases. This year’s Phase I Futures Draft consisted of 10 rounds, with 16 of the league’s teams selecting both US and foreign-born players with a 2000 birth year.
