New franchise to play out of Hopedale’s Blackstone Valley IcePlex.

Entering its ninth season, the New England Future Stars continues to develop into one of the state’s premier leagues for youth hockey players throughout the spring and summer months. With 58 teams across six age divisions (Squirt through high school) and teams at 11 locations across Massachusetts, the Future Stars offers a high level of competition, professional coaching and an atmosphere structured towards skill development. By combining game play and practice sessions, the program is aimed at providing players with a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of Ice hockey, while keeping a consistent schedule that allows players, coaches and families plenty of flexibility throughout the offseason.

The league’s ninth season will also bring with it the birth of its newest franchise. The Blackstone Valley Barons will have teams competing in all four co-ed divisions, as well as Girls U14 and Girls Varsity, playing out of the Blackstone Valley IcePlex in Hopedale.

Registration is now open for 2016 tryouts, which will begin in February for most Squirt, Peewee and Bantam teams. Evaluations for the Girls U14 division are scheduled to begin in late February, with the Varsity and Girls Varsity divisions set for the conclusion of the high school season in late March. (Dates and times will vary by location and team.)

Season opening games will take place in May 2016.
