FRANKLIN – Looking to make a name for themselves at the top of the Bantam Division, the Norfolk County Hawks (8-1-0) picked up their eighth straight victory on Sunday, posting a 12-2 win over the Raynham Raiders (3-6-0) at Pirelli Veterans Arena.

It was a hot start for the Raiders, jumping out to a 2-0 lead 5:30 into the contest on goals by Brett Williams and Johnny Hutchinson. Seemingly in the blink of an eye, however, things went from good to bad quickly for the Raiders.

Less than 3:30 after Raynham had extended their lead, the game was back to even at the onset of a seven-goal Hawks rally in the frame. Each goal coming from a different Hawks player as they amassed a 7-2 lead by the game’s first intermission.

Things settled in for the Raiders defense and goaltending a little in the second, both Adam Fogel and Derrik Rivet steadying the Raynham net, but the Hawks still popped a couple more, extending their lead to 9-2 heading into the third. The victory then closed with another three, finalizing the 12-2 victory.

In posting the Hawks’ largest win of the season, nine different players were credited with multiple points on the score sheet, four at three or more. Nicholas Mahoney (2G, 2A) and All-Star selection Evan Vassilovski (4A) each had a game-high four points, while Ben Murphy (2G, 1A) and Cameron Burn (1G, 2A) each went for three.
