Raiders remain perfect.

FRANKLIN – Nine opponents have stood across the ice from the Peewee Raynham Raiders this season. All nine have fallen at their feet, the Raiders (9-0-0) keeping their slim hold on the division’s top seed after defeating the Norfolk County Hawks (2-7-0) 10-2 on Sunday at Pirelli Veterans Arena.

It was an interesting start to the Peewee contest, the Raiders taking a penalty just 25 seconds in and the Hawks scoring a power play goal just four seconds after that. With three penalties called and four goals scored – two a side – in the game’s first five minutes, the stage was set for an intriguing affair.

Not much of the opening 15 minutes was played at 5-on-5, but that seemed to slow the Raiders offense little. They amassed a 4-2 advantage by the game’s first break, goals coming from Ryan Concannon, Ben Sarantopoulos, Sean DelGiudice and Andrew Cummings.

The Raiders breathing room got a little more comfortable as their offense truly began to pop throughout the second, forward Kirk Leach putting on a clinic. Six times the Raiders struck in the second, four of them credited to Leach, including a natural hat trick, as Raynham took a commanding 10-2 lead into the third.

Content with their margin, the division’s top scoring offenses remained mum in the third. Four different Raiders closed the game with multiple points, Leach highest among them with game-highs in goals, assists and points at four, two and six, respectively. His effort was seconded by a three-point showing from Concannon (1G, 2A), while Cummings and Nick Blonde were each responsible for a goal and an assist.

Hunter McElhinney and Ethan Stanley were each credited with a goal for the Hawks.
