FRANKLIN – After a strong start to the season, the Squirt Norfolk County Hawks (4-4-1) had slowly watched their record slip below .500 over the last few weeks, suffering through a four-game losing streak. With the postseason now coming into view and a spot in the Gold Cup playoffs still in play, the Hawks got back on the right track on Sunday, posting a 9-2 win over the Raynham Raiders (0-9-0) at Pirelli Veterans Arena.

The Raiders, who also entered Sunday’s contest looking to snap a losing skid of their own, put themselves in good position early as Jake Titone scored an unassisted tally just 12-seconds after the game’s opening faceoff. Though playing a strong frame, Raynham was unable to capitalize on the early momentum, Norfolk County scoring three straight to end the first with a 3-1 advantage.

There was another early goal in the second period, but this time it was the Hawks furthering their lead to 4-1 on an Andrew Nicholson score at 1:42. Nicholson’s goal touched off the continuation of the Hawks run of unanswered as the team nearly tripled their goal total in the second. The middle period coming to a close with Norfolk County up 8-1.

As the game moved to the third, Raynham broke up the Norfolk County assault when Sean Nasiff scored at 1:35. The offenses were relatively quiet in the third, however, but there was still one more goal to be scored by the Hawks, Aidan O’Connell bringing their goal total to nine with his score at 5:45. The game ending 9-2.

Five different Hawks were credited with multiple points in the affair, Dylan McEvoy leading the charge with a game-high three goals and four points. Backing him up were Nicholson and Jack Carosi, each with a goal and two assists, and Luke Sheehan and Ryan Eldridge, each credited with a goal and an assist.
