Coyotes nab important points as playoffs near.

RAYNHAM – With not a single seed in the division yet to be determined, valuable points were on the line as the Peewee Raynham Raiders (1-9-0) welcomed the South Middlesex Coyotes (4-6-0) to the Raynham IcePlex on Sunday. Unfortunately for the host side, those points were not to be theirs as the Coyotes parlayed a strong start into a 9-1 victory over the Raiders.

It took all of 46-seconds for the Coyotes to get on the path to victory, Matthew Lajoie with the quick score. The South Middlesex speed proved too much for Raynham in the early goings, as the visitors amassed a 3-0 lead before the game was even six minutes old.

The Raiders balanced things out in the middle portions of the first, had a great chance late as Michael Brennan and TJ Mondeau had a couple of whacks from the doorstep, but it was Alex Miller and Anthony Attardo coming through for the Coyotes to make it 5-0 at the first intermission.

Raynham continued to try and pick it up as the second period began, Shea Cunningham with a shorthanded bid early, but Coyotes netminder Franklin Zessis kept things locked down between the pipes. The middle period followed a similar pattern to late in the first period, the Raiders getting steady chances throughout, but Zessis and the South Middlesex defense remaining strong, limiting the quality of those chances, while Connor Peterson tacked on to the lead, making it 6-0 headed into the final period.

Undeterred, the Raiders perseverance paid off early in the third, Cunningham getting the home side on the board just 33-seconds in. The comeback rally, however, came no closer than 6-1, Ty Blumberg restoring the Coyotes lead to six not long after Cunningham’s tally at 2:48. South Middlesex went on to add another pair to set the score at its 9-1 final.

Five different Coyotes made their way onto the score sheet multiple times in the contest, Attardo (1G, 2A) and Blumberg (1G, 2A) chief among them with three points apiece.
